The Roma Women and Youth Association “Luludi” began with implementation of the project “Unifying the Voices for Ending Violence against Women” as partner organization, along with the “Roma Women Centre Bibija”, from Serbia, “Young Roma”, from Montenegro and the Citizen’s Association for the promotion of education of Roma “Otaharin”, from Bosna and Hercegovina.
The project is part of the regional programme “Implementing Norms, Changing Minds: Ending Violence Against Women in the Western Balkans and Turkey”, implemented by the UN Women and supported by the European Union.
The project started with First Coordinative meeting of the partner organizations on 21st and 22nd of September 2018, in Skopje, where in details were reviewed the project and following-up project activities, mutual tasks and obligations, and the creation of the Matrix which will serve as base for collecting data and preparation of reports in accordance with the CEDAW and the Istanbul Convention. The first following-up activity was determied and it’s (re)creating a Nettwork of organizations which work on women’s rights, domestic violence, and violence towards women, on national level in each partner organization’s country.
These established national networks shall participate on preparation of reports on monitoring the implementation of the Istanbul Convention and the Convention on Ellimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), as well giving recommendations to countries and other stakeholders.
“Unifying the Voices for Ending Violence against Women” aims to contribute to the development of measures towards mutiple inequalities and other forms of discrimination, and violence against Roma women. At the same time, strenghtening the voices of the Roma women for monitoring, reporting and advocating about the implementation of the Istanbul Convention and the CEDAW Convention.
