Innovative Initatives - Community Moblizers

The Roma Women and Youth Association “LULUDI” in the period from November,2023 to April, 2023 will implement the innovative initiative named “Youth have right of their space for sport and recreation”, supported by the project “Support to Electoral Reforms” – project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), implemented by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).

Overall goal of the project “Support to Electoral Reforms” is to support democratic and credible election processes that facilitate political participation and social integration by enabling voters to select their representatives and hold them accountable. The Project aims toward more inclusive and democratic election processes managed by enhanced organization of elections, closely monitored by citizens.
Main Outcomes:
Outcome 1: Strengthened institutions conduct fair and efficient election processes.
Outcome 2: Internally democratized political parties present citizen-oriented policies and election programs.
Outcome 3: Empowered citizens hold political parties and elected officials accountable.

The Overall objective of the innovative initiative “Youth have right of their space for sport and recreation”: actualization of the lack of space for sports and recreational activities for the citizens of Shuto Orizari municipality. The goal with this initiative is to actualize the issue of space for sports and recreational activities in the municipality, a sport hall that has already been planned and build but is not in operation and available for the citizens. 

Citizens, especially young residents of the municipality, have the right to space for sports and recreational activities. Existence and functioning of a space for sports and recreational activities is of essential importance for a local community, because it provides opportunities for citizens to organize various types of events, to form sports and recreational clubs that positively affect the personal development of the individual, but also contributes to the collective development in the municipality

Activities:

  • Capacity building of 2 young Community Mobilizers by the grantee, engaged by the RWYA “Luludi”.
  • Local monitoring – refers to the activities taken by the municipality to start the operation of the constructed sports hall. Conducting field research with the citizens and competent institutions, analysis and report of the actual situation.
  • Round table with relevant stakeholders
  • Implementation of a Local Campaign and community mobilization 
  • Holding a main event in front of the sports hall in the municipality of Shuto Orizari – addressing young people to competent institutions and bodies to solve the problem
  • Submitting an official request from the citizens of the municipality of Shuto Orizari

Reults:

  1. Identified reasons for an unopened and non-functional sports hall in the municipality of Shuto Orizari
  2. Mobilized local community from the municipality of Shuto Orizari for a current problem – space for sports and recreation
  3. Submitted request/s to competent institutions with possible solutions for opening and putting into operation the sports hall in the municipality of Shuto Orizari
